Steering Group submits objections to Ptarmigan’s WARE2 submission

February 2023

Ware’s Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group has submitted a jointly-agreed response to planning application documents submitted by Ptarmigan (Ware) Ltd and Redellis (Ware) Ltd to East Herts District Council.

The application documents, as is widely known, seek:

  • outline approval for 1800 new homes on land to the North and East of Ware; and

  • full planning approval for internal highways work on the proposed site, to enable initial stages of construction

In our response we formally registered several specific objections.

We state that the ill-conceived highways and infrastructure proposals raise potential public safety issues.

And, furthermore, that the plans fail sustainability tests and will exacerbate air pollution problems in Ware.

We also argue that they are detrimental to the viability and vitality of Ware Town Centre.

Steering Group Chair Jan Stock commented: “The Ware Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group has several concerns with the hybrid planning application. The group has spent a considerable amount of time reviewing the documentation on the EHDC planning portal and has provided EHDC with a developed a detailed response to support our objection to the proposal.”

The Steering Group feels it's important for local residents to understand the existing Air Quality issues within Ware. Why not check out this portal here. Enter your postcode to get a free Air Quality report for your address.
